Our story

How did we get here?

Cubby Café started as a dream—one that took root the moment we stepped onto 11 Acre Farm. We knew we wanted to create something special, a place where people could slow down, connect with nature, and enjoy simple, honest food. But more than that, we wanted to build something that reflected our family values—sustainability, community, and respect for the land.

A farm at the heart of it all

From the very beginning, we knew that food would be the soul of this place. That’s why we’ve spent years building a permaculture farm, growing chemical-free fruits, vegetables, and herbs that make their way from our soil to your plate. We’ve carefully selected everything we grow, focusing on seasonal produce that’s full of flavor and goodness—just the way nature intended.

But we didn’t start from scratch. We spent our first year rescuing established fruit trees from around Perth, giving them a new home in our growing food forest. And as our farm has flourished, so has our passion for sharing what we’ve learned—whether it’s through our food, workshops on sustainable farming, or just swapping stories over a coffee.

Sustainability in every detail

Sustainability isn’t just something we talk about—it’s in everything we do. When we bought this property, it came with an old house, a hay shed, and stables. Instead of tearing things down, we saw potential.

With a little love (and a lot of hard work), we upcycled materials, preserved the character of the land, and gave these old structures new life. The hay shed became Cubby Café, and reclaimed timber and salvaged materials have been used throughout the farm, keeping the charm of the past alive while creating something for the future.

More than a café—an experience

Cubby Café is more than just a place to grab a coffee—it’s a place to breathe, explore, and feel at home. Whether you’re here for a peaceful morning, a long lunch, or a family day out, there’s something magical about being surrounded by nature.

Our animal enclosure is one of our favorite parts of the farm. What started with a handful of animals has grown into a family of over 300 friendly faces—donkeys, pigs, goats, sheep, peacocks, guinea fowl, quails, bunnies, bees, ducks, and more chickens than we can count! They not only help us with our farm’s ecosystem but also bring joy to every visitor who meets them.

And this is just the beginning. Every coffee you sip, every bite you enjoy, and every visit you make helps us keep growing, improving, and creating. The small entry fee for the animal area goes right back into the farm—expanding our gardens, enhancing the enclosures, and making 11 Acre Farm even better for everyone who visits.

We welcome you

This place is a labor of love, built for the community, for families, and for those who, like us, appreciate the beauty of good food, fresh air, and meaningful connections.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We can’t wait to welcome you to the farm and share this little piece of our world with you.

Cubby Lane

We know that finding a place where the whole family feels welcome can be a challenge. That’s why we’ve worked hard to create a space where kids can be kids, without compromising on the experience for adults. We believe in creating spaces where kids can engage in imaginative, wholesome play—so that adults can truly relax and enjoy a quality meal.

That’s where Cubby Lane comes in. Instead of installing a generic playground, we rescued, dismantled, and restored old cubby houses from all over Perth, bringing them back to life as a beautiful, upcycled mini-town. It was no small task—each cubby had to be carefully taken down, transported, repaired, and reassembled. It’s about giving them a space where they can explore, create, and engage in screen-free, meaningful play, all while you enjoy a meal made with quality ingredients, sourced with care.
